Cowboy Bebop The bounty hunters, who are gathering in the spaceship "BEBOP", will play freely without fear of risky things. They must create new dreams and films by breaking traditional styles. The work, which becomes a new genre itself, will be called... "COWBOY BEBOP" "3..2..1... LET'S JAM!" Cowboy Bebop is the story of Spike Spiegel, a bounty hunter of the future. In 2071, various planets in our solar system are colonized and are accessible through gates. Spike and his buddy Jet Black, a former police officer, track down bounties to make a living. Along the way, they are joined by the seductive Faye Valentine and the hacker kid-genuis Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky 4th (or 'Ed' for short). Cowboy Bebop is a more mature and serious anime. Each episode is usually a story within itself and sheds a little more light about each character's past. Spike's past involves a woman named Julia and a high-ranking lieutenant of an organized crime group called the Red Dragons. Vicious and Spike were once comrades until Spike tried to leave the organization and Vicious had orders to kill him. The music of Cowboy Bebop, composed beautifully by Yoko Kanno, are a collection of jazz and blues sequences. It certainly fits the somewhat dark and sombre mood of the show. The music is one of the anime's highlights, setting the tone for much of the gun battles, fight scenes and spaceship encounters. Although the anime takes place in the future, only the locales and machinery look futuristic. Fashion is very modern, as well as the use of 20th century firearms like Glock pistols. Humour still finds its way into the show but Cowboy Bebop will definitely appeal to the anime fan who is looking for something a little more grown-up.
