What are your hobbies?
I enjoy reading (mostly fantasy genre) and designing webpages. I've also been involved in several writing projects since my graduation from
high school. I've also tried my hand at drawing from time to time but without much satisfaction. Anime and manga are two of my obsessions as I enjoy
watching/reading them. I'm somewhat musically talented, at one time being able to play the piano and the clarinet. For athetlics, I enjoy playing
tennis, table tennis, baseball, volleyball, and starting to play badminton. I enjoy roller-blading, skating and skiing. I am also a white belt in taekwondo (meaning I just started!).
What languages can you speak?
Besides being fluent in english, I've done 10 years of french in the past (all of which I've forgotten!). I speak cantonese (chinese) with my parents
and some friends although reading and writing skills are extremely poor. I am currently learning japanese with a small foundation picked up from self-study
and watching Japanese anime.
Why do you enjoy anime?
Although anime could be classified as cartoons, they are far from silly and mindless. Key elements of anime include a tightly-woven story with
intricately developed characters - elements that which make a good book put into animation. Anime spans the ages from sillier children's themes to more
thought provoking and mature stories. Anime spreads across all genres: mystery, romance, comedy, science fiction, fantasy and even merges several of them
together. Anyone who enjoys a good story will enjoy anime.
What music do you like?
I've come to appreciate almost all types of music as I grew up. I mainly listen to rock and pop although there was a time I liked rap and hip-hop.
Dance and electronica is also great depending on the beat and melody. I also enjoy a good classical or orchestral movement as well as appreciating some opera and
modern-day musicals. My musical interests also span to other cultures including pop from Hong Kong and Japan. I enjoy music that has a lively, energetic feel or
a slow, haunting melody. The only music I do not like is country (as clichéd as it sounds) although there are a few enjoyable songs.
